At Austin, we work in collaboration with our clients to create safer, more durable and productive surface and underground mining equipment.

We work closely with our clients to understand site specifics and operational conditions, including vari- ables like material density, the abrasiveness of material, potential for hang-up and loading practices.

Our skilled engineers can customise a body to increase payload in adherence to OEM specifications. We’re also able to pass match to maximise fleet capabilities and customise bodies and buckets.

Mr Vincent D’Rozario was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in January 2023. An executive leader adept at business transformation and growth, Vincent has forged his career in the highly competitive business sectors of major project delivery, commercial aviation and environmental/waste management solutions. He has a strong track record in purpose led transformation bringing businesses to their desired market position. Vincent is driven by challenge and thrives on leading organizational change and strategic organic and inorganic growth. After a career spanning over 27 years in global roles with Aker Solutions, Global Process Systems and Jacobs, Vincent moved to the commercial aviation sector where he held the role of Regional Managing Director for CHC Helicopters APAC for 6 years prior to joining Austin. Vincent provides a strong focus on improving and growing both the top and bottom lines leading to increased shareholder/owner value. In addition to his COO role at Austin Engineering, Vincent holds a Non-Executive Director role on the Board of The Environmental Group Limited (ASX:EGL). A strong safety advocate, Vincent is an accomplished cognitive behavioural practitioner which he applies to both safety also to business leadership. His hands-on approach to ensuring that all levels of the organisation understand that safety is their choice has ensured a fatality and major incident free record for businesses under his stewardship.     Liaise between customers and internal functions to ensure timely and successful delivery of post sales service according to the customer needs.     Site Visits

    This is a Site-Facing role with strong background in heavy equipment fabrication/boilermaking (particularly mining truck bodies and large excavator buckets and other large fabricated components)

    The role requires you to be comfortable carrying out regular site visits to discuss operational and wear characteristics of these products with site-based customers (maintenance managers/specialists/planners etc). Needs to be proactive in gathering wear and other data in order to develop and provide proposals for repair/refurbishment of buckets and truck bodies and upsell spare parts.

    Your future role

    The Robotics Operator has a responsibility for ensuring a high standard of welding on Austin Engineering Ltd Products, within a time frame set whilst maintaining efficient quality control consistent with Company Standards.

    Key responsibilities

    • Follow all Austin Engineering Ltd Policies and Procedures including but not limited to: Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Personal Protective Equipment Policy, Environmental Policy, Equal Employment Opportunity Policy, Fitness for Work Policy, Injury Management Policy, Non-Smoking Policy, Alcohol and Drugs Policy and The Safety and Induction Handbook

    • Arc air gouging skills (highly regarded)

    Successful Welder candidates require:

    • Ability to pass 2F, 3G and 4G weld test
    • 1st Class welder or equivalent trade certificate.
    • Previous industry experience in heavy steel manufacturing industry.

    • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to safe working practices

    Austbore is a division of Austin Engineering based in Mackay, Queensland specializing in all facets of component manufacture, rebuild and refurbishment. Austbore offers all machining solutions, including on site line boring.

    About You

    The successful applicant will possess the following skills and experience:

    • Mechanical Trade Certificate
    • 2 years minimum experience in a similar role
    • Experience with CAD / CAM desirable but not essential (Fusion 360 / OnShape)
    • Background in the mining industry would be beneficial.
    • Experience in CNC machining desirable
    • Competent in the use of the suite of Microsoft Office Products
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a small team

    Main duties 

    • Ensure achievement of business performance against budget, by providing accurate job estimating/quoting
    • Liaise with internal and external customers to formulate estimates, make changes and adjustments to estimates
    • Timely preparation of tender documentation in compliance with the customers “Invitation to Tender process”
    • Review scopes of work, drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to ensure proposals are complete and accurate.
    • Accurately assess the type of tender, client, and closing date of tender to determine prioritization of all tenders per tender guidelines.
    • Maintain and update Estimating standards, templates, and structures.
    • Provide suggestions for improvements to estimating approach.
    • Follow up suppliers to make sure that materials have been received per specification.
    • Review completed jobs against estimates to inform future estimating work
