Mr Jim Walker is the Chairman of Austin Engineering Ltd. Jim has over 45 years of experience in the resources sector. He is currently Non-Executive Chairman of Australian Potash, Chairman of the Western Australia State Training Board, Non-Executive Chairman of the Mader Group and Deputy Chairman RAC Holdings (WA). Jim was formerly Non-Executive Chairman of Macmahon Holdings Limited, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of WesTrac Pty Limited. He was formerly National President of the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and AIM Western Australia. Jim’s focus on apprentices and training was recognised when he was awarded the GJ Stokes Memorial Award at Diggers & Dealers in August 2014.
Mr Peter Forsyth is the Managing Director of Austin Engineering Ltd. Peter has previously worked as a Senior Executive with Caterpillar Inc. for 27 years, with assignments in locations around the world, including the USA, Singapore, India and Australia. Peter’s roles included Mining Manager, District Manager and Major Projects Manager for Caterpillar of Australia. He has managed numerous major mining equipment deals with global mining companies and contractors. Peter was instrumental in the development and execution of Caterpillar’s emerging market strategy for off-highway trucks. His most recent role was Chief Executive Officer of Chesterfield Australia, which was the Kobelco and John Deere dealer for territory in Queensland and New South Wales.
Mr Chris Indermaur is a Non-Executive Director of Austin Engineering Ltd. Christopher has over 30 years of experience in engineering and commercial roles for large Australian companies. He is currently a Director of Austral Limited and Centrex Metals Limited. Chris was formerly the Engineering and Contracts Manager for the QNI Nickel Refinery at Yabulu, Company Secretary for QAL and General Manager for Strategy and Development at Alinta Limited. Chris holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and a Graduate Diploma of Engineering (Chemical) from the West Australian Institute of Technology (now Curtin University). Chris also holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws from Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Australian National University.
Mr Sybrandt (Sy) van Dyk was appointed as Non-Executive Director of Austin Engineering Ltd in March 2018. Sy holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of South Africa and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia. A Chartered Accountant by profession, Sy has more than 25 years’ sales, operational and financial experience, primarily within the resource sector. He has held roles as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Macmahon Holdings and a number of senior operational roles at the WesTrac Group. Prior to WesTrac, Sy’s career included a number of senior positions within Kimberly-Clark South Africa.
Mr David Singleton was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Austin Engineering Ltd in April 2019. David is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Austal Limited (Austal. Prior to this, David was CEO and Managing Director of mineral explorer, Poseidon Nickel (2007-2016) and engineering and project services contractor, Clough Limited (2003-2007). He has vast international business experience gained in senior executive roles in Europe and the USA. He was the Group Head of Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions for BAE Systems based in London and spent three years as CEO of Alenia Marconi Systems, based in Italy. David has served as a member of the National Defence Industries Council in the United Kingdom, and as a board member and Vice-President (Defence) of Intellect, a leading trade association for the UK technology industry. He has an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from University College London and is an Honorary Doctor of Engineering, Edith Cowan University.
Mr David Pichanick commenced with Austin Engineering Ltd in March 2018. He has a strong history of producing excellent results for his clients, his people and his company. David drives the development of global markets, ensuring innovative equipment meets clients’ needs and expectations through the expected total cost of ownership model. He also ensures correct forecasting and availability of products to deliver to the target market. David demonstrates his commitment to integrity and Austin’s core values by mentoring his team into world-class sales and marketing leaders.
Mr Simon Mair commenced with Austin Engineering Ltd in October 2017. He has a diverse 15-year background in mining services spanning manufacturing, remote power generation, mining camps, transport and drilling. His approach to leadership and building high-performance teams is forged from his entrepreneurial background and experience in a number of ASX-listed companies. At an operational level, Simon is hands-on with an appreciation of the balance required to achieve efficiency and productivity while optimising costs to achieve revenue and margin growth targets.
Mr Sam Cruickshank commenced with Austin Engineering in May 2016, as Group Financial Controller. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Prior to joining Austin, Sam operated a financial consulting business servicing multiple public companies in financial compliance and planning roles. Sam’s professional grounding was forged in audit, working across two mid-tier firms. Sam’s passion is robust and informative financial reporting and the formation of strategy through financial modelling.
Ms Rochelle Oberholzer was appointed Group Risk Manager of Austin Engineer in March 2017, having previously consulted for Austin Engineering Ltd. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) as well as a MBA. Rochelle is a member of the Institute of Chartered Fraud Examiners, the Risk Management Institute of Australasia and a fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia. She has a career spanning more than 25 years’ in both operations, finance, governance and risk management primarily within the mining industry, Rochelle believes that effective governance is the corner stone of any organisation and assists companies in integrating risk and risk management with strategy setting and performance management.
Ms Sophie Raven is a corporate lawyer and company secretary with over 20 years’ experience both in Australia and internationally, including as a corporate lawyer in Santiago, Chile advising Australian and Canadian resources, drilling and mining services companies. She has held positions as Company Secretary with various ASX-listed entities in the resources (both hard rock and oil & gas) and technology industries, and is currently also the Company Secretary for Australian Potash Limited. Sophie holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is a board member of Parkerville Children and Youth Care (Inc), a not-for-profit organisation.
